The Turkish defence and aerospace industry continued its steady export growth in June 2026. According to data announced by Professor Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Defence Industry Agency, the sector's June exports reached $802.8 million, a 29.6 per cent increase compared to the same month last year. The real historic threshold, however, was seen in the 12-month export total: defence and aerospace exports surpassed the $11 billion mark for the first time.
$4.7 Billion in the First Half of the Year
In the January–June period, the sector's total exports reached $4.6657 billion, a 29.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. This performance indicates that if the growth momentum achieved in the first half continues into the second, 2026 could close with a new record in defence exports.
Notable deliveries in June included the HİSAR-class corvette Contraamiral Roman exported to Romania, the ATMACA, AKYA and TEMREN munitions successfully used against live targets during Exercise Denizkurdu-II, and the SİPER 2 air defence system reaching Full Operational Capability. Additionally, the launch of the first of the LMS Batch-2 corvettes being built for the Royal Malaysian Navy was among the month's significant developments.
$11 Billion Threshold in 12-Month Figure
The 12-month export total surpassing $11 billion for the first time confirms that the sector is on a sustainable growth trajectory. Görgün commented: "With our systems that have proven their success in the field and our increasingly deep-rooted ecosystem, we continue to forge lasting collaborations on a global scale."
In addition to platform exports, growth in munitions, electronic systems and sub-component exports has also contributed to this increase. The integration of SMEs into the supply chain, alongside major companies such as ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TUSAŞ, Baykar and STM, is among the factors driving export figures upward.
