Speaking at a Turkish business panel, Ekber Onuk, CEO of Onuk Automotive Industry, surprised attendees by sharing real visuals and plans of their first domestically designed racing car. Onuk, who was also part of the Anadol automobile team years ago, said the vehicle would be ready very soon and could participate in races starting next year.
The car's brand will be Onuk, and its model name will be Sazan LM. Sazan is the nickname of Onuk's late engineer son, Kaan Onuk, from high school. Providing information about the vehicle, Onuk stated that work has been ongoing for approximately nine years. Regarding domestic car production, Onuk said the following:
“Türkiye has the knowledge and technical infrastructure to produce top-tier cars. The important thing is to create a roadmap for this and proceed accordingly. A design/production process started in this way will provide a very serious training process for the engineering team, and this core team will gain experience for future productions of 200-300 thousand units per year.”
