With Türkiye's first Bird Strike Test Facility located at TUSAŞ facilities, another test necessary for the development and certification processes of aircraft will be carried out domestically.
Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) is strengthening its investments to test the aircraft it develops under the most challenging conditions using national resources. With Türkiye's first Bird Strike Test Facility, another test necessary for the development and certification processes of aircraft will be carried out domestically.
The facility will test products developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), primarily HÜRJET and the National Combat Aircraft, ensuring that test data remains within Turkey. TAI has accelerated its efforts to minimize damage from bird strikes, considered one of the biggest threats to aviation. Designed to serve not only the aviation industry but all sectors requiring such testing, the facility is expected to attract interest from various countries and sectors worldwide.
In this context, damage to aircraft components can be detected by launching bird-shaped gel molds of various masses using a system similar to a cannonball system. The test data obtained will contribute to the development processes of critical components of all platforms and aircraft produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries, including the National Combat Aircraft and Hürjet.
Sharing his views on the Bird Impact Test Facility, Turkish Aerospace Industries General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil said, “We attach importance to developing original products for a fully independent defense industry and testing these products with domestic and national resources. We ensure that the test data remains in our country. The Bird Impact Test Facility is a facility that exists only in certain countries in the world, and we are happy to have brought it to our country. I congratulate my colleagues who contributed to this new capability that we have added to our country's aviation ecosystem.”.
