The new prototype of the national combat aircraft KAAN, developed by TUSAŞ, has been captured on camera for the first time. Footage shared via TUSAŞ's social media account showed the aircraft undergoing taxi tests. Following the completion of ground tests this summer, the new prototype is expected to conduct its first flight test.
Towards the Final Production Configuration
The new prototype represents a critical milestone in KAAN's development process. The data obtained from flight tests conducted on this prototype will be decisive in shaping KAAN's final production configuration. Upon completion of the test programme, KAAN's configuration will be largely finalised.

KAAN is being developed under Türkiye's fifth-generation fighter aircraft programme. Featuring a low radar cross-section, an internal weapons bay, and advanced avionics systems, the aircraft is set to play the most critical role among the platforms intended to replace the Turkish Air Force's F-16 fleet. The first prototype, which conducted KAAN's maiden flight in February 2024, has successfully completed two test flights to date.
