Construction of the Yıldırım Test Facility, where national projects and original products, including the National Combat Aircraft developed by Tusaş, will be tested, is nearing completion.
The Yıldırım Test Facility, which will be used for testing all original products manufactured by Turkish Aerospace Industries, will have its first assignment on the National Combat Aircraft project (MMU).
At the Yıldırım Test Facility, where the first tests for the National Combat Aircraft (MMU) will be conducted, it will be tested that the MMU does not suffer any physical damage or electromagnetic interference that would impair flight safety due to the effects of lightning, and the fuel system will be evaluated.
In addition to ensuring the flight safety of the MMU, tests will also be conducted to ensure that its mission systems are not damaged during lightning strikes and that the effects of lightning do not prevent the MMU platform from performing its duties.
The Lightning Test Facility will enable the artificial, controlled, and measurable production of natural lightning events involving high voltage and high current in a laboratory environment. The Lightning Test Facility will consist of high-voltage and high-current generators, fuel testing systems, and control and measurement systems.
Speaking about the importance of the Yıldırım Test Facility, the General Manager of Turkish Aerospace Industries, Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil, said: “We are continuing our investments in high technologies for our defense industry and our country. We are rightfully proud to be bringing another facility to our country where we can conduct tests of all our original products, especially the National Combat Aircraft, domestically.“
