Yongatek's Domestic Chips ÇELİK and SAKA Leave the Fab: Testing Next

Yongatek Microelectronics has taken delivery of the first physical chips of the ÇELİK MCU and SAKA FPGA SoC. Design, production and packaging are complete. The next stage is first silicon testing and verification.

Another critical threshold has been passed in Türkiye's semiconductor technology journey. Following long-running design, verification, tape-out, production and packaging processes, Yongatek Microelectronics has announced that the first physical chips of the ÇELİK MCU and SAKA FPGA SoC have arrived at the company. According to Yongatek's statement, all design, tape-out, production and packaging stages have now been completed. The next critical step is first silicon testing and verification work.

ÇELİK MCU: Domestic Microcontroller Developed for Beko

The ÇELİK MCU stands out as a domestic microcontroller solution developed by Yongatek for Beko Corporate. Designed for use in white goods in particular, as well as automotive, robotics, industrial applications and various embedded systems, the chip targets a broad range of applications. Its development specifically for a white goods manufacturer operating on a global scale such as Beko demonstrates that the chip responds to a commercial-scale need.

SAKA FPGA SoC: A National Step in Programmable Hardware

The SAKA FPGA SoC, with its programmable hardware infrastructure, targets a wide range of uses from communications to defence, and from industrial automation to robotics and education. Yongatek describes SAKA as "one of the most important outputs of Türkiye's domestic and national FPGA SoC development journey." FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) technology offers flexible and high-performance hardware solutions through its ability to be programmed after manufacture. The domestic development of this technology carries strategic importance in reducing external dependency in critical areas ranging from the defence industry to communications infrastructure.

Next Stage: First Silicon Tests

Yongatek has announced that it will begin first silicon tests following the physical receipt of the chips. Teams will carry out functional testing of ÇELİK and SAKA to comprehensively verify the designs' performance on silicon. This stage is regarded as one of the most critical examinations in a chip's journey from design to production. However well-executed the design may be, the behaviour on real silicon must be tested and verified.

Yongatek shared the excitement of the process with the words: "We are advancing step by step towards a new era in which technologies designed in Türkiye are transformed into silicon. Now it is time to make them work." The results to emerge from the first silicon tests will be decisive in the commercial and operational journey of both ÇELİK and SAKA.
