Ankara, August 23, 2011 - A contract for the 'Jet Training Aircraft and Fighter Aircraft Conceptual Design Project' was signed between the Undersecretariat of Defence Industries (SSM) and Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ) on August 23, 2011.
The signing ceremony, held at TUSAŞ Balgat Facilities, was attended by Minister of National Defence İsmet Yılmaz, Commander of the Air Force Mehmet Erten, Deputy Minister of National Defence Hasan Kemal Yardımcı, Undersecretary of Defence Industry Murad Bayar, along with military and civilian officials from the General Staff, Ministry of National Defence, Undersecretariat of Defence Industries, Air Force Command, Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, and the defence sector.
At the meeting of the Defence Industry Executive Committee on December 15, 2010, it was decided to initiate contract negotiations with TUSAŞ for the initial conceptual design phase, with the aim of meeting the Turkish Air Force Command's needs for Jet Trainer Aircraft and Fighter Aircraft after the 2020s as a national development project.
