Ankara, August 17, 2011 – The first prototype of the ATAK T129 helicopter, produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), successfully completed its maiden flight on August 17, 2011.
The first flight of the ATAK T129 P6 prototype was successfully carried out on schedule by TUSAŞ test pilots at TUSAŞ's facilities in Akıncı (Ankara).
The helicopter, which took off at 5:30 AM, remained airborne for 90 minutes and successfully completed all necessary tests. Upon landing, it was greeted with applause from all TUSAŞ employees involved in the project. TUSAŞ Test Pilots Adnan Meral and Gökhan Korkmaztürk, who conducted the first flight of the ATAK T129 helicopter and stated that they had completed a very successful test flight, later celebrated their success with the entire team.
