The “Acergy Merlin,” the first rescue and seismic research vessel built in Türkiye, was launched after being constructed in 11 months for the Norwegian company Volstad Shipping AS through a collaboration between Istanbul and Yıldırım shipyards, both part of SNR Holding.
A written statement from SNR Holding stated that the holding's Istanbul and Yıldırım shipyards have achieved a first by constructing Türkiye's first rescue and seismic research vessel.
The statement explained that the "Acergy Merlin," which is very similar to and has comparable equipment to the submarine rescue mother ship (MOSHIP) needed by the Turkish Naval Forces Command, will be used in all kinds of rescue and submarine research operations in the Arctic Ocean with its superior technological equipment.
