With MILSAR, clouds are no longer an obstacle to seeing.

The MİLSAR AKSUNGUR UAV, one of the high-tech products of the Turkish defense industry, has entered service.

With the goal of seeing without being seen and striking without being struck, the Turkish Defense Industry, which develops its military technologies, has put into service the MİLSAR AKSUNGUR UAV, one of its high-tech products.

Ismail Demir, the head of the Defense Industry, shared on his social media account that the MILSAR (National Virtual Aperture Radar) system has begun its service with the Naval Forces Command via the AKSUNGUR UAV.

What is MILSAR?

With its easy installation feature, it can be easily used on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft. This high-tech radar system has the same mechanical interfaces as the standard 15” EO/IR sensor turret, allowing for easy replacement. MILSAR's "slew to cue" capability, when used in conjunction with the EO/IR system, increases the efficiency of UAV-UAS joint operations, expanding the UAV's wide-area surveillance capability and the UAS's attack capability. It detects and tracks low-speed, small-sized, or fast-moving potential targets in adverse weather and low-visibility conditions such as fog and cloud cover.

SAR features support Stripmap and Spotlight sub-modes, providing high-resolution and long-range imaging in cloud-above surveillance operations in low visibility conditions, both day and night. Radar plots and tracks can be displayed on georeferenced plan-position indicators or used as layer information on a digital map. The range-orientation and course-velocity parameters of the selected target can be displayed in real-time on the operator console. Stripmap mode provides real-time precise terrain profiling and sub-meter resolution radar imaging, and is used for wide-area surveillance. Spotlight mode offers customized imaging for the detection, identification, and classification of target characteristics.

The system has two optional modes for motion detection (DMTI) and coastal zone surveillance (MMTI). MILSAR's optional Coherent Change Detection (CCD) feature reveals differences in the selected area, allowing for understanding of activity in the selected region by comparing SAR images obtained at different time points.
