TURKA has signed a strategic cooperation bringing together artificial intelligence and robotics technologies in vehicle inspection processes. The primary objective of the agreement signed between TURKA and Altınay Robot Technologies is for this technology, developed and tested in Türkiye, to be exported abroad over time. Within the scope of the cooperation, the design, system integration, control infrastructure and field adaptation of the robotic mechanisms to be used in vehicle inspection will be carried out by Altınay.
Robotic Measurement at Hard-to-Reach Points
The industrial robots to be produced by GRASS (Advanced Robot and Smart Industrial Systems), a company under the Altınay Robot Group umbrella, will operate in integration with imaging, sensor and measurement technologies. The system aims to make physical measurement and inspection operations faster, more standardised and repeatable, particularly at hard-to-reach points on vehicles. The technology to be developed will be rolled out gradually across TURKA's operations in 81 provinces, with an architecture scalable according to need. The TURKA New Generation Vehicle Inspection Demonstration Centre, which has entered operation in Arnavutköy, Istanbul, will be used as an R&D and testing base for the development and field adaptation of the systems.
"A Country That Exports Technology, Not Just Uses It"
TURKA Executive Board Member Serhan Salman summarised the strategic dimension of the cooperation with the words: "We want to elevate Türkiye to the position of a country that not only uses technology in vehicle inspection, but develops and exports it." Stating that they attach great importance to the vehicle inspection system they will take over from 15 August 2027 being indigenous and national, Salman said: "We want to create a vehicle inspection technology that has been developed and tested in Türkiye and can be presented to the world."
Salman noted that robotic systems will be deployed particularly in operations requiring physical measurement and inspection, stating: "We will strengthen the decision quality of our technicians with technology. With the system to be established, measurement data will be digitally recorded and can be linked with other systems." He also emphasised that the final process will always be conducted under the responsibility of the relevant legislation and authorised inspection personnel.
GRASS: A Domestic Platform from Drives to Servo Motors
Altınay Technology Group Chairman Hakan Altınay stated that they have taken the engineering strength accumulated over more than 30 years in industrial robotics, advanced automation and deep technology to a new dimension with GRASS. Altınay said: "This platform, developed with our own resources from drives to servo motors and control software, combined with TURKA's innovative vehicle inspection concept, is launching a strategic era that will resonate globally in the sector."
Altınay emphasised that the robotic mechanisms in the field will provide millimetre-level measurement precision, high repeatability and uninterrupted digital data flow even at the most hard-to-reach points of the vehicle, stating: "With TURKA, we aim to turn this technology into a 'Turkish Engineering Reference Model' exported to international markets."
20-Year Process and Export Target
TURKA will carry out vehicle inspection services across Türkiye for 20 years in the new period beginning on 15 August 2027. The scope of the technology to be developed with Altınay Robot is planned to be expanded in the later years of this process. The strategic dimension of the cooperation is formed by the domestic content and export objective. Altınay Robot's more than 30 years of engineering expertise and its capability to develop domestic industrial robots and critical components under the GRASS umbrella meet TURKA's indigenous and national technology vision.
