TAI's Pride: Second Prototype of HÜRJET Flies Successfully

The new generation jet training and light attack aircraft HÜRJET has completed its first flight with its second prototype.

HÜRJET, the next-generation jet training and light attack aircraft developed by TUSAŞ, successfully completed its maiden flight with its second prototype. This significant flight was marked by the names of TUSAŞ martyrs.

HÜRJET's second prototype achieved this feat on November 12, 2024, reaching an altitude of 10,000 feet and a speed of 200 knots. The flight lasted a total of 26 minutes.

The HÜRJET project aims to replace the T-38 Talon aircraft currently in the Turkish Air Force inventory, while also being designed for close air support missions. The successful flight of this second prototype demonstrates that HÜRJET is making steady progress towards mass production.

In its statement regarding this development, TUSAŞ said, “The second prototype of HÜRJET made its first flight in our free skies, bearing the names of our martyrs! This achievement, with the proud and exciting speed of our national technology, always directs our course towards stronger tomorrows.”.

Names of our TUSAŞ martyrs:

  • Zahide Güçlü Ekici
  • Hasan Hüseyin Canbaz
  • Atakan Sahin Erdogan
  • Cengiz Coşkun
  • Murat Arslan

HÜRJET's success contributes not only to the Turkish aviation industry but also to the overall defense capabilities of the country. Considering the further development of more advanced versions of HÜRJET and its potential export capabilities in the later stages of the project, this flight can be seen as a significant step for the future of Türkiye's defense industry.
