Bayraktar TB3 has begun nighttime approach tests for landing on TCG Anadolu.

Developed by Baykar and representing a significant step in Türkiye's indigenous and national unmanned aerial vehicle technology, the Bayraktar TB3 has begun nighttime approach tests to land on the TCG Anadolu ship. This development was brought to public attention yesterday through videos shared on social media by Selçuk Bayraktar.

A Bayraktar TB3 drone conducted a nighttime approach to the TCG Anadolu ship. Videos show the TB3 performing a pass over the ship without landing. This test was conducted to evaluate the TB3’s landing and take-off capabilities on the ship.

  • Nighttime Proximity Test: The Bayraktar TB3 approached the TCG Anadolu ship in nighttime conditions. This test is critical to measuring the UAV's ability to cope with low-light conditions and potential challenges.
  • Pass: During the test, the TB3 approached the runway before landing on the ship, but then moved away without actually landing. These types of passes are used to perform final checks before landing and to minimize any risks.

Bayraktar TB3 and TCG Anadolu

  • Bayraktar TB3: It stands out as the world's first armed unmanned aerial vehicle capable of taking off and landing from short runways thanks to its foldable wing structure. This feature enables it to operate from amphibious ships such as TCG Anadolu.
  • TCG Anadolu: TCG Anadolu, Türkiye's largest warship, is also designed as a suitable platform for short-runway landing and take-off operations. The operational capabilities of the Bayraktar TB3 on this ship will significantly enhance the strategic capabilities of the Turkish Navy.

The Importance of Proximity Testing

These tests are of great importance in evaluating the Bayraktar TB3’s performance in real-world conditions, especially at sea, and in increasing its operational readiness level. Successful tests will pave the way for the integration of the TB3 with TCG Anadolu and for landing and take-off operations on the ship to take place.

The next step for the Bayraktar TB3 after these tests will be full landing and takeoff trials. If these trials are successfully completed, Turkey will have opened a new era in unmanned aerial vehicle technology and will become one of the few countries in the world with such capabilities.
