Türkiye's first national long-range regional air and missile defense system, SİPER, is preparing to enter service. SİPER will be delivered to the Air Force Command in 2024.

SİPER is an air defense system of great importance as the final link in our country's layered air defense needs, and it plays a crucial role in protecting strategic facilities against enemy attacks. SİPER will enable air defense at long range, high altitude, and in a distributed architecture. The first live-fire test of the SİPER Air Defense System was conducted in November 2021.

The SİPER Project is being carried out through a partnership between ASELSAN, Roketsan, and TÜBİTAK SAGE. SİPER is being developed with multiple missile options. The SİPER Block I Missile is being developed by Roketsan based on the HİSAR-RF Missile, and its initial test firings have been successfully conducted. The SİPER Block II Missile is being developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE and is stated to have a range of over 100 kilometers and superior maneuverability. The SİPER System is expected to engage air-breathing targets such as fighter jets and cruise missiles, as well as air-to-ground munitions, and in later stages, it is also anticipated to acquire the capability to engage ballistic missiles.

The SİPER System is described as a system that will enhance Türkiye's air defense capabilities and act as a protector of the skies.
