Türkiye's first domestically designed and produced low-orbit communications satellite, TÜRKSAT-3USAT, was launched into space from Jiuquan, China, on Friday, April 26, 2013 (today) at 07:13 Turkish time.

Our satellite, launched into space by China's Long March 2D rocket, will operate in orbit 645 km above the Earth. The TÜRKSAT-3USAT satellite will pass over Turkey 2-3 times a day and can be used by amateur radio operators with appropriate equipment during these passes. TÜRKSAT-3USAT will have a lifespan of 3 years.

The experience and knowledge gained from this project will be used in the design and production of domestic communication satellites. This project, carried out by TÜRKSAT in collaboration with ITU, contributes to Turkey's goal of training qualified human resources in the field of satellite and space technologies, and also supports the development of domestic technology in the satellite and space sector.
