The KAAN national fighter jet, developed by TUSAŞ, has successfully completed another important testing phase. During a test conducted on December 6, 2024, TUSAŞ activated the afterburner system in both engines of the KAAN for the first time. This development is considered a critical step in the progress of the KAAN project.
Afterburners are systems used in jet engines to provide extra thrust during situations such as takeoff and high-speed climb. The successful completion of this test represents a significant development that will enhance KAAN's performance and operational capabilities.

The KAAN afterburner test was announced on TUSAŞ's social media accounts with the message, "You are a giant, and the burden of a giant is heavy. Rise to your feet, stand tall, and rejoice!".
While tests and other development activities continue, KAAN is planned to enter the Turkish Air Force inventory in 2028. During this process, many more tests will be conducted with various prototypes of KAAN, and these tests will gradually increase the aircraft's flight time, altitude, and other operational capabilities.
