ASELSAN has initiated a collaboration with AeroVironment (AV), a leader in unmanned aerial systems, and a joint venture firm in which AV holds a stake, to provide comprehensive unmanned aerial system-based information services for the ALTOY oil pipelines.
AV will create a three-dimensional map and geographic information system using images collected by electro-optical cameras or LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) systems via the Puma AE mini unmanned aerial system, developed by a global energy firm to enable safer, more efficient, and effective drilling operations in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, North America's largest oil field. The LiDAR (laser-based precision rangefinding sensor) system to be used within the scope of AV's solution was also supplied by ASELSAN.
