Aselsan has developed a helmet-integrated imaging system called TULGAR for Türkiye's National Combat Aircraft, KAAN.
The TULGAR system is a visor-projecting helmet-mounted display system designed by Aselsan for fixed-wing platforms. The system aims to increase pilot and aircraft awareness of capabilities and the mission area.
The TULGAR system is mounted on a reflective visor helmet. The system includes a head unit, an electronic unit, and a head tracking module. The helmet unit is made of lightweight composite materials and can be customized to the user's needs. It also features active and passive noise cancellation, blocking noise from the platform and other sources. Equipped with digital night vision, a color display, and precise head tracking technologies, the system assists pilots in both daytime and nighttime missions.
The system's main components include the head unit, electronic unit, and head tracking module. Thanks to its advanced optical design, the system offers a wide field of view and supports pilots by projecting high-resolution images onto the visor. To provide pilots with an ergonomic solution, the helmet unit consists of lightweight composite materials and an inner helmet custom-made to the user's specifications.
The TULGAR system, thanks to its integrated digital night vision capability, can be used during day and night missions without requiring any changes to the head unit. Furthermore, its robust design ensures it is ready for use in challenging environmental conditions.
