Gokido, which developed a smart cane for visually impaired children, continues to be one of Türkiye's pioneering startups in the field of social technology.
Gokido's founders, recognizing the challenges faced by visually impaired children, began working to provide them with a better life. Gokido's smart canes aim to make things easier for visually impaired children during their early stages of independent mobility. The smart canes easily detect obstacles in their surroundings through sensors embedded in the cane. Furthermore, fun audio content encourages children to enjoy using the smart cane. Gokido also enables users who have volunteered to provide support to visually impaired users by making video calls through the Gokido Mobile App if they need assistance.
Gokido has received numerous awards and support to date. Some of these include:
- In 2023, Gokido won first place at the Social Entrepreneurship Summit, Türkiye's largest social entrepreneurship competition.
- In 2024, Gokido reached the finals of the Social Innovation Competition organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
- In 2024, with the support of Google.org, Gokido became a member of Social Entrepreneurship Türkiye (SOGİT), Türkiye's largest social entrepreneurship network.
Gokido continues its work to increase access to education, social life, and career opportunities for visually impaired children. Gokido's vision is to help visually impaired children realize their dreams and offer them a happier and freer life.
