Defence Industry Agency President Professor Dr. Haluk Görgün and Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Rafet Dalkıran conducted flights with TUSAŞ's two national platforms, HÜRKUŞ-II and HÜRJET. In a post from his social media account, Görgün announced that the first HÜRKUŞ-II aircraft will be delivered to the Air Force Command shortly, while also disclosing that a MURAD AESA radar test was carried out during the HÜRJET flight.
MURAD AESA Radar Tested on HÜRJET for the First Time
According to Görgün's post from Ankara/TUSAŞ, ASELSAN's national MURAD AESA radar was used during the test flight conducted with HÜRJET. As part of the flight, both detection and radar lock-on activities were carried out from the HÜRJET P2 aircraft against the HÜRJET P1 aircraft. This test is of critical importance in verifying the MURAD AESA radar's air-to-air engagement capability on a combat aircraft platform.
MURAD is a national radar system developed by ASELSAN using AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) technology. Compared with traditional mechanically scanned radars, this technology offers advantages including much faster target scanning, longer range, high resistance to electronic jamming and multiple target tracking. The integration of MURAD onto HÜRJET will enable the platform to be far more effective in both the training and light combat aircraft roles.

Assessing the flight experience, Görgün drew attention to the importance of the process extending from the design desk to the production line, and from testing to flight. "When you sit in the cockpit of an aircraft, you feel the immense effort extending from the design desk to the production line, and from testing to flight, far more closely," said Görgün, adding that a new reward for this effort would soon arrive and that the first HÜRKUŞ-II deliveries were imminent.
HÜRKUŞ-II had recently achieved a first in this field by receiving its military type certificate. This certificate demonstrated that Türkiye has built a technical authority capable not only of designing and producing platforms, but also of testing, verifying and certifying them. The certificate, obtained following a comprehensive process in which 1,790 certification requirements were verified and 153 tests were carried out, has now paved the way for the first deliveries.
Two Platforms, Two Different Mission Profiles
In TUSAŞ's post, it was emphasised that HÜRKUŞ-II and HÜRJET strengthen the future of Turkish aviation. Described as "our platforms that bring field experience together with advanced technology," the two aircraft have different mission profiles. HÜRKUŞ-II, with its single-engine turboprop configuration, will be used in basic and advanced flight training. HÜRJET, with its jet engine configuration, will serve both as an advanced trainer and a light combat aircraft. HÜRJET had conducted its maiden flight last month on 30 August, Victory Day, and the first aircraft destined for delivery to the Air Force had begun its flight tests.
