Assistant Professor Dr. Gülşen Cebiroğlu Eryiğit, a faculty member of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology who has been working in the field of natural language processing since 2000, is making Turkish language communication between machines and humans natural and efficient with her ITU Natural Language Processing Software Chain project.

This project marks İTÜNOVA TTO's first successful licensing agreement from Türkiye to the USA. With this new initiative, İTÜNOVA TTO is making the İTÜ-DDİ Software Chain, the result of 15 years of academic experience in Turkish language processing technologies, available for industrial use.

Sharing details about the study, Eryiğit reminded that in today's world, although information is stored in terabytes of data, it cannot be separated, processed, or interpreted. He then stated that a database too large to be managed by human power is growing exponentially with new information added daily. He emphasized the effectiveness of this data, particularly highlighting conversations on social networks, comments shared in brand forums, informative documents that are difficult to find even when searched, and keywords that are inaccessible due to spelling errors or sign language/messaging. He stressed that if this information is correctly separated and interpreted, it will provide invaluable strategic value for those in need.
