The first Turkish intelligence satellite, GÖKTÜRK 2, will be launched from China.

Because Türkiye lacks its own launch technology, it will send its first intelligence and reconnaissance satellite into space from China.

Because Türkiye lacks its own launch technology, it will send its first intelligence and reconnaissance satellite into space via China. A $20 million agreement has been reached with that country. The launch date for GÖKTÜRK 2 is December 2011.

The GÖKTÜRK 2 project developed a satellite capable of photographing objects as close as 2.5 meters. The system's camera was sourced from South Korea. All other manufacturing was carried out in Türkiye. The satellite successfully passed its initial tests.
