The export performance of the Turkish defence and aerospace industry continues its upward trajectory. According to data announced by Defence Industry Agency President Professor Dr. Haluk Görgün, defence and aerospace industry exports reached $634 million in September, a 10.7 per cent increase compared to the same month last year. Total exports in the first nine months of the year amounted to $6.926 billion, a 15.6 per cent increase.

12-Month Exports Near $11 Billion Threshold

The latest 12-month export data indicate that the sector is on a path of steady growth. Over this period, total exports were recorded at $10.941 billion, a 30 per cent increase. This figure sits just below the $11 billion threshold first surpassed in July, and it is expected that this level will be exceeded again by the end of the year.

The Factors Behind the Figures

Görgün stated that high value-added products, engineering competence, production capability and collaborations developed across different regions of the world lie behind the export figures. Contracts signed recently support this picture. Otokar's $1.47 billion armoured vehicle export contract, the delivery of the HİSAR-class corvette to Romania, the corvette export to Malaysia, and South Korea's interest in the Turkish UAV engine PD170 all demonstrate the sector's export success across different segments.

Görgün commented: "Under our Agency's coordination, we continue our export-focused work with determination, and we continue to increase the effectiveness of our defence industry in international markets." The sector's performance indicates that 2026 could close with a new record in defence exports.
