ASELSAN has achieved a significant breakthrough in the field of quantum technologies. ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol announced on his social media account that they have produced the first quantum integrated circuits at the KUANTAL Quantum Research Laboratory.
Akyol, in a post on the X platform, stated: “We have produced the first quantum integrated circuits in our KUANTAL Research Laboratory. Our quantum research will add high technologies to the sensors and devices in existing products. We will transform our country's knowledge in quantum technologies into national systems.”
What are Quantum Integrated Circuits?
Quantum integrated circuits are much smaller and faster than classical electronic circuits.
Quantum integrated circuits (QICs) are quantum circuits integrated onto semiconductor materials. They are used in fields such as quantum computers, quantum communication, quantum sensors, and quantum cryptography. Unlike classical integrated circuits, quantum ICs utilize quantum properties of qubits, such as superposition and entanglement, to process information much faster and more efficiently. Quantum ICs play a significant role in the development of quantum technologies.
Where does ASELSAN conduct its research in the field of quantum technologies?
ASELSAN conducts its research in the field of quantum technologies at the KUANTAL Laboratory established on the TOBB University of Economics and Technology (ETÜ) campus. The laboratory aims to increase Türkiye's knowledge and technological readiness level in quantum technologies and to transform them into domestic and national systems.
ASELSAN, founded in 1975, is one of Türkiye's leading defense industry companies. It operates in fields such as communications, radar, electronic warfare, defense systems, transportation, security, energy, automation, and healthcare systems. In 2021, ASELSAN achieved a turnover of 15.6 billion TL and a net profit of 2.9 billion TL.
