ASELSAN, Türkiye's leading defense company, has signed a contract and a contract amendment with the Presidency of the Defense Industry for the delivery of air defense systems.
According to the company's statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) on December 15, 2023, the total value of the contract and its amendment is 428.5 million euros and 4.8 billion Turkish lira.
The details of the contract were not specified in the statement. However, it is among the products developed by ASELSAN in the field of air defense systems. TRENCH, FORTRESS, SUNGUR And KORKUT These systems are designed to meet the Turkish Armed Forces' short- and medium-range defense needs against air threats.
ASELSAN achieved significant successes in the defense industry in 2023. The company generated 13.6 billion Turkish Lira in net sales revenue in the first nine months of the year. Furthermore, ASELSAN's domestic and international orders exceeded 10.8 billion dollars. The company continues to develop new technologies and solutions to maintain its leadership in the defense industry.
What are Türkiye's air defense systems?
The air defense systems manufactured by ASELSAN and their characteristics can be summarized as follows:
HİSAR-A: Low-altitude air defense missile system. An autonomous system capable of vertical launch, and can operate with armored mechanized units. Range: 15+ km, altitude: 8+ km.
HİSAR-O: Medium-altitude air defense missile system. A system consisting of a vertical launcher mounted on a Mercedes-Benz Zetros chassis, available in RF-guided or IIR-guided versions. Range: 25+ km (RF-guided version: 35+ km), altitude: 15 km, Mach 2.
HİSAR-U (SİPER): Long-altitude and long-range air and missile defense system. Designed for ship and land-based deployment, it features a dual-pulse engine, an active radar seeker (RF) head, an infrared imaging seeker head (IIR), and terminal guidance capability. Its range is 100+ km.
SUNGUR: Short-range air defense missile system. A system that can be used by a single soldier and is compatible with different platform integrations. Range 8 km, altitude 4 km.
KORKUT: Low-altitude air defense artillery system. A system mounted on the chassis of the FNSS ACV-30 vehicle, capable of firing 35 mm fragmentation ammunition, providing air defense for mobile units and mechanized troops. Range: 4-10 km.
