Before Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan's dream of a 100% domestically produced automobile, work had already begun on the production of a fully domestically manufactured High-Speed Train (YHT).
TCDD General Manager Süleyman Karaman announced that they aim to create train sets with all parts domestically produced within the next 10 years, by 2023.
Turkish State Railways (TCDD) has begun efforts to produce a fully domestically manufactured High-Speed Train (YHT), even before Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan's dream of a 100% domestically produced automobile. TCDD General Manager Süleyman Karaman announced that they aim to create a train set with all its components domestically produced within the next 10 years, by 2023. Stating that TCDD, which ranked among the top 8 in the world in High-Speed Trains in 2009, plans to enter the top 10 in the railway industry as well, Karaman reported that they are striving to meet the $25 billion domestic production needs over the next 10 years.
